The main purpose of the Education Committee is to provide anyone
who is interested with an opportunity to learn more about birds. We
accomplish this task primarily by supplying materials and
support to educators throughout the Flathead Valley. These
“educators” can include Scout leaders, church groups and others
as well as teachers. The Education Committee maintains a variety
of learning “trunks” that have instructional materials and
supplies for focusing learning on a particular aspect of bird
life. We can also arrange to have volunteers assist with a
particular project by leading field trips, helping with
identification skills and similar assistance.
The Education Committee is always looking for people who are
interested in helping others learn about birds.
We maintain a list of volunteers who are able to lead field
trips and go into classrooms to assist. Most often the Volunteer
will help a teacher with identification of common birds. You
don’t need to have any special skills, just a willingness to
help out; we will be glad to facilitate getting you ready to go.
Please contact Ashley Mason, Flathead Audubon Society’s
Conservation Educator, at

for information on how to volunteer.
