CHOOSE YOUR BIRD,
SUPPORT YOUR CHAPTER!
The mission of Flathead Audubon is to:
conserve birds, wildlife habitat and ecosystem diversity;
promote awareness and appreciation of the natural world
through
education and advocacy;
work with diverse groups and agencies to achieve sound
decisions
on natural resource issues; and
provide community services such as school programs,
work
projects and field trips. |
The budget for 2010 – 2011 is $38,830 with $20,500 dedicated to
the Education Fund. Our education activities are basic to
performing our mission. The accomplishments of our Educational Coordinator have been fantastic. She is working
with many other conservation organizations in the valley, giving
programs at all kinds of meetings, writing grant applications,
and keeping our bird trunks up-to-date, as well as developing
additional teaching trunks. She has reached over 4,000 people in
the valley in the past year.
The Sustainability Fund, without whose support we could never
offer the educational programs we do, pays about half of the
education budget. We have already received a $3,000 grant from
Plum Creek, $1,000 from Prudential, and are exploring other
corporate sources.
SPECIAL GIFTS PROGRAM
We also want to give you an easy way to help. To participate in
the Flathead Audubon Special Gifts program, simply choose your
bird from the list on the Special Gifts form and send it with
your check to Flathead Audubon Society, PO Box 9173, Kalispell,
MT 59904. Note that you can contribute anonymously, designate
your contribution in memory of a deceased loved one, or, in
honor of a special person in your life. The names of donors will
be published in the next issue of The Pileated Post. And, thank
you for your support of Flathead Audubon’s mission.
