Despite low clouds, poor visibility and intermittent rain, over 25 people showed up for the Flathead Audubon field trip to observe migrating golden eagles from the Lake McDonald Lodge parking lot in Glacier NP on Sunday afternoon October 9.  No migrants were seen due to the cloud cover.  Since this was near the peak of the fall migration, if visibility had been better, dozens of migrating golden eagles could have been observed along the cliffs and ridges near the Mt. Brown Lookout.

Although disappointed by the weather, participants seemed eager to learn about the golden eagle migration, the history of this particular migration counting station, the other regional raptor migration counting sites, and the general natural history of golden eagles.
