A sturdy and dedicated group of campers showed up for the Thursday-Saturday, June 9-11, birding time at Tally Lake Campground. The weather forecast was for rain and wind, but the weather turned out to be perfect with sun and clouds. There were about 20 people – 7 RV’s, 2 tents and day visitors.

It was the year of the warbling vireo – they were all around us. A sandpiper had built a nest right on the trail, with 4 tiny spotted eggs.  A merganser mom led a group of tiny chicks on the lake.

Our collection of expert birders identified 56 species. Click here to view a full list of species observed.
